Homicide in Kennewick (Ancient Mystery)
A skull found beside the Columbia River in Kennewick, USA was initially assumed to belong to a native Indian who died a few hundred years ago. But an initial investigation by Dr Jim Chatters unearthed two unexpected facts. Firstly, the skull was about 9,000 years old, and secondly, it belonged to a European man.
What was he doing in Kennewick in ancient times? Did he belong to an extinct race of Europeans? Local Indian tribes demanded the return of the skull for reburial while Dr Chatters stood fast, determined to carry out further research. But then the US government stepped in and impounded the bones. The fate of Kennewick man has stirred up new questions about the nature of the continent’s ancient inhabitants – and strikes at the heart of racial politics in the USA.
